Weather-sensitive legs
Separate Road Harbour, Sir Francis Drake Channel and exposed outer-island passages. A Road Town start point is not a forecast for the north side of Tortola or an ocean-facing gap.
Observations, sea state and reassessment
Confirm the exact berth/entrance and an observation representative of the exposed leg, if available. Inspect timestamp, sensor status and forecast issue separately. Missing observations or local approach/current information remain explicit gaps; this page does not certify depth, navigability or port permission.

Compare two departure times at the harbour exit, first exposed leg and arrival ETA. Record the next official check and a verified alternative before the point of commitment. If the later option is better only at the berth, it has not yet improved the passage as a whole.

Marine-zone coverage and BVI local responsibility must be separated
NWS San Juan's marine directory actually names waters toward Anegada and Virgin Gorda, as well as the Anegada Passage. It is therefore inaccurate to claim that every US-issued product is geographically irrelevant to BVI sailing. Check the precise zone boundary for the actual leg, while still obtaining BVI local hazard and port information independently. Coverage of nearby waters is not responsibility for BVI port entry or local restrictions.

Turn the Road Town itinerary into an exposure timetable
On a Road Town charter handover, ask which planned stops require an outer-island or north-coast passage rather than remaining in Sir Francis Drake Channel. Put those exposures and the return to base on the timetable, then check the relevant marine issue at each ETA. If the last overnight stop makes the return depend on changed swell or a missed update, revise it before the exposed commitment; the base's calm water is not route-wide evidence.
