The inner Seychelles and remote outer islands are not one forecast location. A Mahé–Praslin charter, a passage toward Amirantes and a longer Indian Ocean leg need different coverage, communication and alternatives.

The Seychelles Meteorological Authority marine forecast divides its product into Mahé/Praslin/La Digue, Amirantes and Aldabra groups. Read the current warning and the relevant area, then check the issue time and the next bulletin. For a route beyond Seychelles waters use the WMO/IMO METAREA directory to identify the next issuer.
Check before a passage
- Match the actual island group and open leg to the authority area.
- Compare wind and wave direction with the arrival anchorage and alternative, not just the forecast at departure.
- For outer-island passages, establish how fresh warnings will reach the yacht away from mobile coverage.
