Use the Italian Air Force Meteorological Service and select its marine map and Meteomar products for the relevant sea. The METAREA III directory helps locate the broader international bulletin; a crossing toward Corsica also needs Météo-France marine. Check which service covers the exact leg.
Check before a passage
- Distinguish the island coast, inter-island open water and arrival bay in the forecast.
- Check swell direction and period as well as local wind, especially at exposed headlands and passages.
- For a crossing between countries, record both source issue times and a conservative arrival window.
